NETQUEST

The Project

NETQUEST is a FHplus project. The FHplus program is founded by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG).

The three working groups GEOSPATIAL, OPT and SYSTEM have been structured for the development of TCS-NETQUEST.

Assignment of the three working groups for the development process of TCS-NETQUEST.

GEOSPATIAL advances methods from system engineering and applied informatics (expert systems) in order to transfer the expert knowledge of network designer as well as basic geoinformation data (e.g. land use classes, specific cable implementation costs etc.) to network graphs - the graph represents the basic data structure for all simulation and optimization.

OPT enhances methods from graph theory and combinatorial optimization based on the provided network graphs. Starting from Steiner tree- and prize collecting Steiner tree problems adapted models and solvers (primal-dual approximation techniques, branch and cut techniques) are constructed in order to solve laying problems under consideration of additional technical conditions.

SYSTEM comprehends methods of web-engineering as well as the development of the hardware structure of TCS-NETQUEST. In particular SYSTEM focuses on the further development of on-line geodata manipulation in order to allow users the design of interactive simulation scenarios.
