Connected to the digital future
Modern communication technology has and is continuously changing the way we live. Deriving from digital communication, new media and technical networks, new future-oriented growth potential and impulses will be generated. The degree program Telematics and Network Engineering offers you the opportunity to take part in these current developments and within 3 years you can earn the academic Bachelor of Science degree.
Telematics is a technology that combines the two fields of telecommunications and computer science/informatics. Network engineering’s general focus is the handling of computer networks on a hardware and software basis. The fields listed above compliment each other and constitute the subject matter of the degree program.
Have you always wanted to know how extensive cellular/mobile phone networks actually function and why approximately 80% of the entire world population can be contacted around the clock? Would you like to get a closer look in the complex data structures of the most important digital communication media, the Internet? Perhaps you have always wondered how it is possible that information can be transmitted over fiber optics and that one single optic fiber with the diameter of a hair can transmit over 100 million telephone calls simultaneously.
The goal of the degree program is to understand the complex relationships from the basics of the microchip up to the Internet as well as from the MP3-player up to complex software systems; moreover this understanding should be used to encourage further development in these areas. Naturally, this is built upon the fundamental studies of electrical engineering, informatics, mathematics and physics. This technical/natural sciences background will be developed in the first and second semesters of the program. In the 3rd semester, you will have the possibility to choose an area of emphasis that corresponds to your own personal interests.
The 3-year Bachelor program Telematics/Network Engineering provides you with the skills and prerequisites necessary for the start of a successful career. After the Bachelor, you also have the opportunity to study in a Master program to further expand your knowledge and skill sets. An example of such a program is the follow-on Master of Science in Communication Engineering for IT which is offered on the CUAS Klagenfurt campus.
