Social Work

Social Work is an extensive and far-reaching profession which has become indispensable in today’s world. Studying Social Work enables you to actively shape social conditions and obtain a bachelor’s degree. We also offer a part-time program for working students.

Would you like to know which political, economic and institutional factors contribute to the increasing complexity of today’s world and why more and more people need support in their everyday life? Are you interested in the cause and effects of individual and societal problems and life tasks? Or would you like to find out which developmental tasks mark the various stages of life (childhood, adolescence, adulthood, maturity)? Find the answers with us: The curriculum covers not just the stages of life and the possible causes of problems but also professional ways of intervening. Additionally, practicums give you the opportunity to test theory against practice.

In the 5th and 6th semester, students choose two out of four elective subjects for further studies:

While some of the general courses are taught in English, foreign languages are also on the curriculum: English for Special Purposes and either Italian or Slovene are taught to all students.

The three-year program at the School of Social Work in Feldkirchen includes a two-week practicum and a 12-week work-placement. The 12-week placement can be done internationally and exchange semesters with international partner universities are encouraged.
