The goal of the Masters degree program “Health Care IT” is to impart to our students competence in medical engineering/IT and management. Thus, in addition to fundamental technical connections, organizational problem solving and basic knowledge in law, a special focus is placed on the fields of telemedicine and project management. Likewise another focus is derived from the potential that new information technology offers for organizations in the healthcare sector. Students of the Masters program “Health Care IT” receive a broad in-depth view of IT implemented in health care, the economics of health care sector and hospital management as well as a market overview of existing products in this field at a minimum for Austria, Germany and Switzerland. In addition, international healthcare systems will be compared and an overview of international IT-project activities will be provided. Furthermore, students explore the fields of organizational consulting, team work and project development, specialized medical care, as well as medical technology and IT. Lectures are given in German and English.
Students learn to work independently and responsibly as well as in small teams in practical lab exercises solving tasks in the healthcare field. Participants learn to identify and define the problem situation and then work out the technical-organizational solutions. In addition to the obvious technical knowledge gained, students learn practical project management competence and teamwork.
The Masters degree program “Health Care IT” is on the one hand a continuation of the Bachelor degree program “Medical Information Technology” while on the other hand, it equally suitable for graduates of other IT Bachelor programs.
